The History of Copley

Copley was previously called Greenfield, then Copley Center. The first settlement in the area was made around 1819. The community was named Copley Center for its location near the geographical center of the township. A post office called Copley Centre was established in 1835, but closed soon after in 1957. The community’s name was changed to Copley in 1841.
