Alliance has a population of 22,322, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. A small town with big town amenities, Alliance is home to 5,232 families and 8,631 households.
Education is central in Alliance. With Mount Union University in the heart of the city, the institution provides excellence in education and athletics. The university continues to grow, adding programs in civil engineering and nursing as well as graduate programs in education and health care.
The Alliance City School District administration offices are housed in the historic Glamorgan Castle. The district completed a new Alliance Middle School and operates several neighborhood elementary schools and Alliance High School, home of the Aviators. Alliance is home to 24 parks with 224 acres of small neighborhood green spaces to a 60-acre complex of ball fields and trails at Butler Rodman Park. The Silver Park on South Union Street is the site of many community gatherings, including Fourth of July fireworks and holiday lights. Called the treasure of the city by city officials, Silver Park is the site of a 9-11 Memorial with a display of artifacts from the World Trade Center.
Other parks include Freedom Square, Thompson-Snodgrass Park, Mount Union College Historic Park, Rockhill Park, Alliance Public Square, Maple Beech Park and Early Hill Park. Located on Beach Street is the Beech Creek Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve. The Historic Downtown features a summer Farmers’ Market, concerts and arts programs.
